History

who and why

The HortInfo project is an extensive source of shared industry best-practice information in an interactive and responsive framework designed to facilitate future expansion of the information base.

HortInfo:

  • provides efficient and cost-effective generic best-practice information for the industry, sectors and for individual users
  • enables individual sectors to focus their limited resources on developing and extending the latest industry-specific production information
  • facilitates sharing of information and resources across NZ fruit production sectors without compromising what individual sectors view as critical intellectual property
  • supports access of consultants to broadly held views on best practice and supports their ability to contribute to these views
  • enhances the value and relevance of third party training programmes

The following industry, education and government organisations were the initial funding partners of the HortInfo project. Industry funding was leveraged by government funds (via the Sustainable Farming Fund) to support the site's establishment and content development.   We acknowledge and appreciate the support these organisations provided.

HortInfo is currently managed by FreshLearn Ltd, a service-orientated company specialising in online extension and learning services within the horticulture supply chain.
